Residential Roofing in Chattanooga
Residential roofing is the overview for houses. It covers inspections, repairs, replacements, storm damage, and metal when that system fits the home. The next page depends on what the roof is doing.
Start with the job, not a package
A leak, missing shingles, or worn flashing on a roof that still has life left belongs on the roof repair page. A roof that is failing in several places, or that has been patched in the same spots over and over, is a roof replacement question. If you do not know which of those fits, start with a roof inspection.
Houses here commonly have architectural or 3-tab shingles. Some have metal roofing, and some additions have a low-slope section. This page does not replace those service pages. It sends you to the one that matches the house.
Where to go from here
After wind or hail, use the storm damage page for the inspection and the documentation. If the question is specifically lifted, creased, or missing shingles from wind, the wind damage page is the narrower one. Metal on a house is covered under metal roofing, including standing seam and exposed-fastener systems.

Common questions
Questions homeowners ask about residential roofing
What roofing work do you do for homeowners?
For homes around Chattanooga we inspect roofs, repair isolated problems, and replace roofs when the material is actually at the end of its life. That includes architectural and 3-tab shingles, metal roofing, and flat or low-slope sections on additions and porches. The first step is always an inspection, so the recommendation matches the roof you have rather than a standard package.
How do I decide between repair and replacement?
Look at how much of the roof is failing, not only at the stain you can see. A local problem on a roof that still has life left is usually a roof repair. Repeated leaks, brittle shingles across several slopes, or storm damage that has compromised the roof is when a roof replacement is the honest conversation. We tell you which one fits, including when no major work is needed.
What roofing materials are commonly used on homes here?
Most houses we see have architectural asphalt shingles. Some still have 3-tab shingles. Metal roofing, including standing seam, is used on homes that want a longer-lasting surface. Additions and porches sometimes have a flat or low-slope section that needs a membrane rather than shingles. We help you choose a material that fits the house, the slope, and the budget. We do not invent a product the roof cannot use.
Can you help with storm-related roof damage?
Yes. After wind or hail we inspect the roof, document what we find with photos and video, and explain whether you need a repair, a partial replacement, or a full replacement. If you are filing a claim, we can share that documentation and meet an adjuster on site. We cannot promise the insurer will approve anything. Details are on our storm damage page.
Do you also handle gutters, skylights, and attic ventilation?
Yes. Gutters, skylights, and attic ventilation sit next to the roof and often show up in the same inspection. Overflowing gutters can soak fascia and the edge of the roof. A leaking skylight is often a flashing problem. Poor attic airflow can cook shingles from below. We install and repair gutters and can address skylights and attic venting when those are part of what the house needs.
